Rinse and sanitise the brush

What you need
- Espresso machine cleaner. Hot water.
What goes wrong
- Never cleaning it at all, which is normal and makes it a source of rancid oil. Leaving it bristles-up so water sits in the head. Replacing it later than every six to twelve months.
The procedure
- Rinse the bristles under hot running water immediately after each backflush, working the oil out with your fingers.
