Robot
Cafelat
Manual dual-piston lever espresso, brutalist design, surprising results.
Cafelat Robot
Two arms, a gauge, and nothing else - no pump, no boiler, no electronics to fail. Produces espresso that embarrasses machines costing ten times more, and will outlive its owner.
| Roast | Grind | Coffee | Water | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| light | fine | 18 g | 38 ml | 42 sec |
| medium | fine | 18 g | 36 ml | 38 sec |
| dark | fine-medium | 17 g | 34 ml | 34 sec |
Makes one 36 ml cup. The figures above are the whole recipe.
What goes wrong
- Pouring boiling water straight into the basket (scorches the puck, bitter and harsh), no preheat of basket and body (temperature crash, sour), forcing 9 bar because that is the espresso number (the Robot works well lower, forcing it channels), an uneven bed (the lever amplifies channelling with no pump to mask it)
No care schedule written for this one yet.
