Filter Coffee technique
- Weigh 60g of coffee per litre - 30g for a 500ml brew - at a medium grind.
- Rinse the paper filter with hot water and discard the rinse.
- Fill the reservoir with filtered water and run the machine; a good one holds 92-96°C at the bed.
- Level the bed with a spoon if the grounds have climbed the sides during the brew.
- Decant into a preheated carafe if it will stand more than 20 minutes - a hotplate stews coffee.
Machine drip lives or dies on dose and water quality. If the cup reads thin, grind finer before you add more coffee.
