A mug of filter coffee with a single espresso dropped into it. Diner-counter caffeine, not a subtle drink.

Caffeine is a reference value for this drink and brew method, not a measurement of your cup.
Red Eye preparation
- Brew 240ml of filter coffee at 60g per litre and pour it into a 350ml mug.
- Pull a single espresso (9g in, 18g out) - make it a double and it becomes a Black Eye.
- Add the shot to the coffee and stir once.
Around 160mg of caffeine, so treat it as a blunt instrument. Use a lighter filter brew as the base or the two dark layers fight each other.
